UPDATE FOR 2021-2022

NEW MEETINGS 2021-2022

Please see our programme of new talks for 2021-2022.

I hope that we will be able to meet again in September 2021 at Kennington WI Hall at 7.30 pm, but if not, we will have our meetings on Zoom as we did last season.

The committee have discussed the future programme and will contact members before September asking if you would attend a meeting in the Hall or not;  we will then decide what to do.

We are also resuming Field meetings. To see how to go about booking your place please see details on our Field Meetings page.

2021

Because of the continuing and new restrictions for containing and reducing COVID 19 we have had to cancel our monthly indoor meetings at the WI Hall for the time being.  We will keep this under review and continue to follow the latest government  guidance.

However, we have arranged new monthly online meetings using ZOOM, and we are very grateful for our speakers who are happy to participate in this way. Please see our ZOOM Meetings page for details.

Because of rules about groups meeting, including the Rule of 6, we are running small group field meetings at this stage.

13TH MARCH MEETING: TURTLE DOVES 7.30PM

The speaker at the next indoor meeting on Wednesday March 13th will be Nicole Khan, RSPB Turtle Dove Conservation Advisor. She will be talking about the Turtle Dove Project and her role. Turtle Doves have suffered a 93% decline since 1995 partly because of guns in the Mediterranean basin and also because of loss of habitat and a shortage of spring food in the UK.

From Andrew Lapworth

referring to a future speaker at the club.
NICOLE KHAN (March 13th 2019);

Dear all
I went to this talk at SBBO on Thursday. She was an excellent speaker and I'm sure she'll be well received at the Club. Her talk describes Operation Turtle Dove and the efforts going in to hanging on to existing local populations of these lovely summer visitors. An excellent website supports the initiative. I think this might be worth sharing with members via the emails and links on our website

best wishes

Andrew
